  • Original watercolour painting, depicting a view of a brick road bridge spanning a river in a residential area, possibly the River Aire in Bingley, West Yorkshire?, by the listed English artist William Lyons Wilson (1892-1981).

William Lyons Wilson was born in Leeds, and was a self taught artist who, after serving in World War I, became part of a world of writers and artists such as J B Priestley, Phillip Naviasky, Fred Lawson, Jacob Kramer and Richard Eurich, who described him as ‘the best watercolourist of his time’. He worked for the Cunard Shipping Line, supplying paintings for their new liners, and, in 1938, moved to Devon to teach at Blundell's School in Tiverton. He exhibited widely including at The Royal Academy and with the surrealists at The Redfern Gallery in London. His works can be found in private and public collections, including those of the Imperial War Museum and Exeter Museum.
