  • Superb original oil painting on board, presented in a bold, ebonised gallery frame, depicting a farmer and his working dog herding sheep in a snow-covered winterscape at sunset.  This beautiful, impressionistic painting is by the Irish artist William Cunningham (b.1946 ).

William Cunningham was born in County Down, Northern Ireland, and studied at Universities in Belfast, York and London. He had an interest in art from an early age, and is essentially a self-taught, having received no real formal artistic training. He initially worked as a lecturer until the success of his first solo exhibition, at the Tom Cromie Gallery in 1978, convinced him to become a full-time artist. Over the years he has exhibited widely, and in 1996 one of the world’s leading art publishers, released four of his paintings in print form. His works have also been reproduced for greetings cards and calenders, and today his originals feature in many private collections.
