Large original watercolour & ink painting, depicting a view of a watermill beside a waterfall in a countryside riverscape, this fabulous painting was created in 1970, and is by the renowned and respected English artist Richard Hobson (1945-2004).

 

Richard Hobson was born in Derby and studied at Newcastle College of Art, having moved to the north east of England at an early age.  He worked in interior and furniture design in London for a time before returning to the north east to work in design with Swan Hunter, the Tyneside shipbuilders.  In 1973 he became 'Conservator of Paintings' at the Bowes Museum where he remained for 31 years.  Considered one of the North East’s leading artists, he exhibited both regionally and nationally in many solo and group exhibitions, including at The Royal Academy in London and The Royal Scottish Society of Watercolour Painters in Edinburgh, he also won numerous awards and was regularly commissioned by various corporate clients.
