  • Large original oil painting on canvas, beautifully presented in a bold gallery frame, depicting a French cafe waiter holding a tray containing two cups of coffee. The waiter bears a striking resemblance to the artist, and the painting appears to be a self-portrait of him, created in a slight impasto style, which gives the painting a definite texture. Entitled 'Cafe Parisien', this superb painting is by the Canadian artist Remi LaBarre (b.1977 ).

Remi LaBarre was born in Thetford Mines, Canada, and is a self-taught artist who was always a prolific drawer and painter throughout his childhood. His trademark paintings, which he describes as 'painted songs', reflect the lighting of hushed environments and poetic narratives of jazz bars, cafes and clubs, in cities like Montreal, Paris and San Francisco. He includes John Singer Sargent, Fabian Perez and Jack Vettriano as among his artistic influences, and his stunning works have been showcased in countless group and solo exhibitions, and can be found in collections across Europe and America.
