Original oil on board impressionist painting, depicting two ladies seated on a lush riverbank, picking daisies. We have had this painting sympathetically reframed, and it is now beautifully presented in a gilt frame with a moulded white slip. The work is by the listed Yorkshire artist Maurice William Crawshaw (b.1947 ).

 

Maurice William Crawshaw was born in Sheffield, and initially worked in the British steel industry before pursuing his passion for art, and taking the leap into becoming a full-time professional artist. His quest to become a commercial artist took him to Norfolk, where he also worked as a photographer, and it was here that he began to experiment with oils which in turn led to his interest in impressionism. He is an exhibited artist, an elected member of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters and the Society of Limners, and his works feature in many private collections.
