Joyce Borland was born in Dumbarton, Scotland, and studied at  the Glasgow School of Art under the tuition of Peter Howson, David Linley and Norrie Kirkham.  She works in acrylics or water-based mediums, and specialises in the tonality of landscape in both Scotland and the rest of Europe.  She has exhibited widely throughout the UK, including at the Royal Glasgow Institute and the Mall Galleries, London.
