Henry John Yeend King was born in London, and was initially apprenticed to a London glass painters for three years, before studying painting under the artist William Bromley, and then travelling to Paris to study further. Although he lived in London for most of his life, he specialised in rustic and countryside scenes and traveled extensively throughout England and France for suitable subject matter. He was elected to The Royal Society of British Artist, The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolor, and The Royal Institute of Painters in Oil-Colors. He exhibited widely throughout Britain, Europe and the USA, including 94 times at London's prestigious Royal Academy, and his works feature in numerous public collections including those of The Walker Art Gallery, Leeds City Art Galleries, and The Tate Gallery.
