  • Original watercolour painting, depicting a hunter with his shotgun, hiding in a clearing on a coastline, eyeing-up a flock of birds flying overhead, by the English artist George Anderson Short (1856-1945).

George Anderson Short was born in Kirkharle, Northumberland, and later moved to Halifax where he worked as a carpet designer at Dean Clough Mills. In 1907 he moved to Snaith, and then returned to live in Halifax 20 years later. He was a prolific artist, working in oils and watercolours, mostly concentrating on sporting scenes, wild fowl, hunt meets and local scenes. He sold very few paintings other than commission pieces, however, after his death, his works were sold be his daughter, and, as they rarely come on the market, they are now highly sought after.
