Original watercolour horse racing interest painting, depicting a group of jockeys riding out race horses in the morning, at Middleham, North Yorkshire, this original work is entitled 'Morning Exercise, Middleham', and is by the listed English artist David Howell (b.1939 ).
David Howell was born in Markyate, Hertfordshire, and is a self-taught artist, working in watercolour, oils and pastels, who paints outside as much as possible, has travelled extensively, and lived for many years in the Middle East. A member of the Society of Equestrian Artists, and former President of the Royal Society of Marine Artists, he has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally, including at the Royal College of Art, the Royal Institute and the Royal Society of Marine Artists and his work hangs in corporate and private collections worldwide. He has also published a number of books, writes articles for magazines, teaches painting in both the UK and Europe, and now lives in Yorkshire.
