  • Superb original antique watercolour painting depicting a portrait of a smartly dressed, bearded Victorian gentleman, believed to have been painted in the late 19th Century. This very accomplished work is by the Scottish artist Charles Andrew Sellar (1855-1926).
     
    Charles Andrew Sellar was born in Perth, Scotland, and studied at the Edinburgh University, where he graduated with a Master of Arts degree. He was an award winning portrait and landscape artist, working in oils and watercolours, and was elected a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW) in 1893. He exhibited widely including at the Royal Scottish Academy and Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour annual exhibitions, and his works can be found in the Perth Museum and Art Gallery.

    - Framed, glazed and ready to hang, in a gilt moulded wooden frame
    - Frame size 33cm x 43cm (approx. 13 inches x 17 inches)
    - The painting has a couple of minor, very feint spots of foxing, otherwise it is in excellent condition
    - The frame has a few chips, dinks and light rubbing, commensurate with age, otherwise it is sound and in very good condition
