Carl Whitfield was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire and is a self-taught artist who began painting at the age of four. Upon leaving school, he initially pursued a brief career in commercial management before reverting to his first love, and  becoming a professional artist. He began airbrushing art on motorcycles and cars, before returning to oil painting in order to realistically capture nature and its flora and fauna. His work is inspired by the artists John Atkinson Grimshaw and Edgar Hunt, and he particularly enjoys painting wildlife and farmyard scenes in a photo-realistic style. He has successfully established a reputation as a leading British wildlife artist, whose works feature in collections across the UK and around the world.
