  • Original watercolour painting, depicting a view of Stainforth Bridge in North Yorkshire, with the River Ribble flowing into the foreground and two people walking a Border Collie dog on the riverside path.  This excellent painting is by the acclaimed English landscape artist Alan Ingham (1932-2002), and is a rare opportunity to own one of his original works.

Alan Ingham was  born in Skipton, Yorkshire, and was awarded a scholarship to the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth where he rose through the Navy ranks to become a Lieutenant Commander.  In 1965 he left the Navy and became a lecturer in his specialist field of hydrography.  In the 1970s he finally emerged as a painter and exhibited his work at some notable venues, including the Mall Galleries in London. His was in such demand that he published his original work as limited edition prints, and by 1980 he was focusing all of his attentions on painting.  His work is ranked amongst the country’s best contemporary landscape paintings and is adjudged to convey a telling, vivid depiction of seasonal beauty and the diversity of the British landscape.
